3D Secure is an extended security standard for card payments on the internet. The name 3DS is derived from the third additional security measure that protects credit card holders from card fraud.
There are basically three ways to securely authorize an online payment: The use of biometric data, an mTAN and a security question. At Nuri, we use all three in combination to ensure the maximum security of your account.
In order for 3D Secure and with it some features of your account to work smoothly, it's important to activate your debit card, to add a current mobile phone number to your Nuri account and to pair your smartphone with these. You can easily set this up in the mobile app under Control > General Settings > Security > Pair mobile device.
You'll then receive a minimum six-digit mTAN via SMS for authentication when paying with your card online. For verification purposes, the last digits of your mobile phone number will also be displayed. Sending the mTAN is free of charge for you.
In case your phone number changes, just contact us using our Contact Form.
For in-app authentication, you'll receive a push notification asking you to log into the Nuri app and you'll then be automatically redirected to confirm the card transaction with your biometric data.
For authentication via security question, the right answer to a question only you can know about has to be given.
